Not playing in the SECC game, I always want UGA to win the SEC. I really do believe it would be better if the SEC went back to having 2 divisions, with each division winner playing for the SECC.

I want to win the SEC but the reality is that the expanded playoff field makes playing in the SECCG more risk than reward, for any team not only Georgia. Losing the SECCG is the only way we get left out of the playoff.

SEC needs to go back to divisions and have division winners play for SECC if they are going to have an SECCG. The system they have now is asinine and is ripe for a situation where there are multiple teams with a legitimate claim to being able to play in the SECCG.

I get the risk part because if we lose that game it's an uphill slog and/or elimination.
However, the reward is sitting out a game as an early BYE. That's a head start on the playoffs with MORE time for players to heal up
and gives coaches time to prepare for other teams.

I think we would have to get blown to be left out this year with a loss in Atlanta, assuming we TCB vs Tech. That said, a GT upset still leaves us a chance by being in Atlanta..beat the nerds..

I totally agree with your second comment..

I believe that even if UGA loses in the SECC game, they still make the playoffs. Now, lose it convincingly? Yes, they will probably be left out.

As far as the BYE, we would get three weeks rest for healing if we did not play in the SECCG and those weeks would be right now when we really need them.  Being in the SECCG means we have to wait another week (and play another game which could result in more injuries) before we get any time to rest and heal and then we get three weeks only if we win the  SECCG.  If we lose the SECCG and still get in the playoff (unlikely imo with 3 losses) we only get two weeks rest before the first playoff game.  Additionally, as we sit today we probably get to play the first playoff game at home.  If we lose the SECCG and get knocked down to a low seed we will go on the road for a first playoff game.

It is a crazy world and shows how messed up the SEC is right now when an argument can be made that not making the SECCG is a better position to be in.
