Disclaimer: With a 10-2 overall record, some of this may seem overly harsh. But, when your star student turns in subpar work...the grade has to reflect it.
Offense:
Overall: B-
QB: B (The improvement the past 3 games has moved this grade up. Also, in Beck's defense, he's not received much help from his receiving corps.)
WR: C+ ....drops, bad routes, and failure to make plays have plagued this group. Injuries and suspensions have likely contributed just as much or more to the problems. The overall result has been less than ideal.
OL: Injuries have contributed to poor play, but, so has like of desire...looking at you Micah Morris.
TE: B -, probably would have been higher except for 84 looking like he didn't know what to do early in the season. Also blame some of the poor production on lack of usage.
RB: B Injuries haven't helped. ETN likely would have had a stellar season but has been slowed all year. NF3 is a star in the making and keeps this group from having a lower grade.
Coaching: D+/C-, Coley, Serels and Bobo...nuff said.
Defense:
Overall: B- (verge of C+)
DL: B- Injuries and lack of talent have played huge roles. No true NT on the roster has not helped either.
LBers: C+ When was the last time we consistently set the edge? Texas? Most talented physical group on the team and we can't seem to get them in the right spot to be as effective as they should be.
CB's: D...I'd give a lower grade here, but, I don't think it's all the player's fault.
Safeties: B, we've had some good play here from Dan J and Bolden. Starks has played out of position a good bit and battled through injuries the first half. Still had a decent season.
Coaching: C+ Schuman proved how much he missed Muschamp.
Special teams: A-
This would have been an A...but, how many memorable kick or punt returns did we have? No offense to Cash JOnes, but, when him and Michael Jackson are the best we have to return kicks...really? Evans has already checked out.
Great job by the punter and the kicker.
Overall team score: B Again, should be lower based on how we've played. But, hard to give a lower score than a B on a 10-2 season.
Overall coaching score: (Kirby) B- Should be lower based on decisions like going for 2 Saturday. But, also could argue it's one of his better jobs considering the team we ended up with. (Lack of leaders and injuries/suspensions).
The real report card should probably wait till the entire season is over...but, we have to talk about something.

You don't seem to be considering that we just played the toughest schedule in the Country...qualified for the SEC Title game in a 16 team conference...A- at worst.
D+ for the 0, that's a fucking joke. 5th in the conference in scoring O, 1.6 PPG behind the leader. Best I can tell anyways.

It's interesting give Kirby a B- and say he could be higher because of "the team" but don't give the other coaches the same potential pass. I'm going to need to see the analytics you used for your grades

I considered it and I addressed some of it. We played the toughest schedule and lost to two of the best 4 we played. We also "played with our food" in almost every game we had against a lesser opponent. The talent game was massive at times and we made it close. I'm not even counting watching players not give their best (or much effort at all).
Your point is valid and, as I said, I'm probably overly harsh in some areas. I'll sure revise once the full body of work has been observed.
Maybe the 3.5 quarters of some of the worst football I've seen a Kirby Smart team play scared me last Saturday?

Fair point and certainly an omission on my part. I could have gone the other way and been way more harsh on Kirby for 3-4 bad hires on assistants. I'm assuming he's about to fix some of that.

Totally agree...if he wins the next one, he'll only have to win two more (3 total). Lose the SECCG and he'll have to win 3. Either way, we win it all and I'd agree it's his best overall coaching job.

I thought NYE started the round of 8? Wouldn't that be SECC plus three more?

I do not believe that to be correct…a win Saturday gives us a bye to the round of 8..a win Saturday will be easier than winning it all…
