ATHENS, GA - Georgia returns to the friendly and increasingly raucous confines of Stegeman Coliseum on Tuesday to host the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Bulldogs will play three of their next four games at home. Georgia is 11-1 at home this season, with capacity crowds for the Bulldogs' three SEC outings – wins over No. 6/7 Kentucky and No. 17/16 Oklahoma and a two-point loss to No. 1/1 Auburn. The Bulldogs entered the week ranked 39.8 in an average of six popular metrics (NET, KenPom, Torvik, KPI, BPI and SOR). Georgia is 14-6 overall and 2-5 to open league play. Despite a 34-23 advantage for Georgia in games played in Athens, South Carolina leads the overall series, 64-60.

Georgia's head baseball coach Wes Johnson enters his second year as a consensus preseason top 25 team. In other preseason rankings released this month, the Bulldogs checked in at No. 4 according to Perfect Game and No. 8 by D1Baseball.com. The Bulldogs have most of their rotation returning from a year ago in Charlie Goldstein (4-1, 3.72 ERA), Kolten Smith (9-3, 5.56 ERA), Leighton Finley (6-1, 4.14 ERA) and Zach Harris (5-2, 6.87 ERA). The starting lineup welcomes back Tre Phelps (.353-12-40), Slate Alford (.300-17-69) and Kolby Branch (.267-17-58) and a newcomer class that has been ranked as high as No. 7 (Baseball America). The Bulldogs were one of ten Southeastern Conference teams in the Baseball America top 25 that included Texas A&M (1), LSU (2), Tennessee (3), Arkansas (4), Florida (7), Texas (14), Vanderbilt (15), Mississippi State (18) and Kentucky (20).
