Connor Ferguson, a kicker, has announced his commitment to the Bulldawgs

When it looked like Georgia was done with its 2025 recruiting class, it added another name to the list. Connor Ferguson, a kicker in the cycle, has announced his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Ferguson is from Benedictine Military School. The Bulldogs already had a stout class and it looks like this might be the final name added to the class with the official signing day nearing. The Bulldogs already have a premiere kicker on the roster as Peyton Woodring has been the program's starting kicker for the last two seasons. He is returning for a third this year.

Benedictine's Connor Ferguson, one of the top-ranked placekickers in the country, announced Monday on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, that he has committed to the University of Georgia as a preferred walk-on.

The senior had previously committed to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. On Sunday, Ferguson made a post on X that he was decommitting from UNCC as he wrote "After careful thought and due to a change in circumstances, I have made the difficult decision to decommit from UNCC Football. This decision was not made lightly and comes with the utmost respect for the coaches and the program."

Ferguson is ranked No. 7 in the nation in the Kohl's Kicking rankings and is No. 1 in Georgia.

"I went to a camp at Georgia last summer and have been in contact with the coaches there constantly since then, and I took two game day visits this season. But when I committed to UNC Charlotte, there wasn't an offer yet from Georgia," Ferguson said. "But once I got the offer from Georgia, it was something I just couldn't turn down.

"I've been a Georgia fan since I was in kindergarten, and when I got to visit there and just loved the atmosphere, the school and the facilities — I mean, what's not to love? I developed a really strong relationship with the coaches there and that meant a lot. You could say this is a dream come true for me."

Ferguson said he thinks he'll have a chance to compete for the kickoff job right away, and he hopes to earn a full scholarship as he continues to develop as a Bulldog. An 'A' student, Ferguson said he plans to major in aerospace or aeronautical engineering with a path toward aviation.

As a senior, Ferguson earned All-Greater Savannah first-team honors for the second year in a row. He made 15 of 18 field goals with a long of 52 yards, which set a Benedictine record.

He connected on 45 of 46 extra points and had touchbacks on 82% of his kickoffs, while averaging 38.8 yards per punt, with only seven of 47 punts returned. He had 17 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line. He was a Class 4A All-State first-team selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for a Cadet squad that reached the Class 4A state quarterfinals.

Benedictine kicker Connor Ferguson kicks an extra point against Burke County on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Memorial Stadium.
"Connor had a tremendous impact with our team with his field goals, extra points and his punting and he did a reallly good job with his kickoffs too with so many touchbacks," Benedictine coach Danny Britt said. "Connor is a quiet young man, but he's very focused. He's a hard worker and dedicated to everything he does. We're really excited about Connor getting the chance to play at Georgia."
