Have there been any surprise departures thus far? I don't know enough to know who was expected to go or stay.

(01-03-2024, 11:25 AM)Replying to Tomato Sandwich I don't think anyone really knew which way McConkey was leaning, but it still isn't necessarily surprising. SVP accepted the senior bowl invitation a few weeks before the bowl game, so this was a farewell address rather than an announcement. I think we had some surprises in the portal, but none in the NFL departures. It sounded like already knew the two RBs were gone based on how aggressively we went after Ettiene.

(01-03-2024, 11:29 AM)Replying to Toasty B No really....heard Dajun might not get drafted, though
DE30 reminds me a lot of Holyfield. Very good at the collegiate level, but may not have the measurables the Pros are looking for. If a Pro team runs a formation with a FB a lot he might work in that system.

I still think of Dajun as the guy who comes in late in a backup role who happened to end up the best RB available due to injuries.

But from his perspective, he's still going to be that guy next year if he comes back. I don't think he would improve his NFL potential by returning. I don't know what his degree status is, but I can understand seeing what's out there and moving on to what comes next.

There's been a couple of us here saying which way Ladd was "leaning" for a while. He's had his mind made up for months. His season gave the tiniest bit of pause, but, he had planned to go pro since the season started.
The info Toasty is delivering is not speculation...trust me on that.

(01-03-2024, 12:33 PM)Replying to dncdawg Julian Humphrey was a surprise to me. He was about to start. He took over Everett's spot this year before he got hurt. He also just posted two days ago that he was staying. More kids doing kid things, I guess.
These are not kids, these are adults making decisions based on money.

He wasn't going to start on Kirby's D the next game doing that kind of stuff

SVP will always be a DGD, JH and family are trying to get Kirby to match the offer from A7M.
