I think the last country album I bought was “The Outlaws”, a collection of songs by
Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings & Jessie Coulter.

Been dead! I'm a huge country music fan, but I haven't listened to anything out of Nashville in a looooong time. The music coming out of Nashville the last 10-20 years ain't "country". It's "pop". Try Texas music or Red Dirt music or Outlaw country. None of it come out of Nashville. Stream KHYI 95.3 "The Range" out of Dallas, TX. Thank me later!!!
It's still out there, but you ain't gon' hear it on the radio. Got to look for it now.
Honorable mention for Drew Parker. He's a little Bro for my taste, but he was raised about 5 miles from me, and I went to school with his mama.

Joe Bussard maintained that country music "croaked in the back of that Cadillac in West Virginia".
