The Georgia Bulldogs will be entering spring practice without their top cornerback. Rising senior Daylen Everette suffered a sports hernia and will undergo offseason surgery to recover from it. He and Christen Miller, who also underwent surgery on his labrum, will more than likely miss the spring game (if Georgia has one).
Everette didn't miss a single game in the 2024 season, so it's unclear when he suffered the injury. Graham Coffey of The Players' Lounge says that Everette will either be a limited participant or miss out entirely on spring ball in March. Everette's injury means cornerbacks Daniel Harris and Ellis Robinson will get more action with the starting defense. Georgia is expected to have an open competition for the cornerback spot opposite of Everette.
Everette joins several other Bulldogs that went through offseason surgeries; Monroe Freeling (shoulder), Gabe Harris (left arm), and Colton Heinrich (undisclosed) are the other players that will be, at minimum, limited participants for the spring game.
Everette emerged as the top cornerback option for the UGA secondary in 2024. The IMG Academy product totaled 58 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, and three interceptions (team-high) in 2024. His return brings continuity to the Georgia secondary, which also added transfers like Jaden Harris, Adrian Maddox, and Zion Branch.
Georgia football's spring practice is projected to start in mid-March.
