How to Live by Sarah Bakewell is excellent. It's based on the essays of Michel de Montaigne. I just finished it and highly recommend. It's insightful, clever and funny.

Hey Land, Have you watched The Boy's In The Boat yet? On Amazon. George Clooney directs. Not as good as the book, but worth the watch.

I just finished the books Swamp Fox(about Francis Marion) and Rebel yell(about Stonewall) and both were extremely insightful. Marion was a true badass.

My last 4 books read. and I recommend them all.

"Lincoln Unmasked" - Thomas J. DiLorenzo
"Across the Miles" - Attorney David C. Gibbs, Jr. (founder of the Christian Law Association)
"The Boniface Option" - Andrew Isker
"Total Resistance" - H. Von Dach

And I've just started the book,

21st Century Minute Man" - Salvatore DeGennaro

all of these are under 200 page books that can be read in a few days at most.

Have read some of those. I'm a big on the Rev War. I'll read anything about Cowpens and Kings Mtn. my 2 favorite war stories. Too bad The Patriot didn't follow history a little better. Loved the movie.

Swamp Fox was the GD man. Bad ass. The Patriot was loosely based on the Swamp Fox. Called him the Ghost in the movie.
